MiaMapa

Find events on the map. Open them at the source.

MiaMapa is a map-first event discovery platform that helps people explore local events visually instead of scrolling through endless feeds or event lists. Unlike traditional event platforms MiaMapa does not try to keep users inside a closed ecosystem. Organizers can publish their events anywhere they want - Instagram, Facebook, their own website, and simply add the event link to MiaMapa for free. Discover events directly on the interactive map, click them, and go straight to the original source.

This project started out of the sudden in a small coffee shop in Foligno, Italy. We started it because discovering local events is surprisingly fragmented. Amazing festivals, concerts, village fairs, markets, races, and cultural events often exist only as scattered Facebook posts, Instagram stories, municipal pages or small local websites. Unless you already follow the right pages, you simply never discover them. Most existing platforms also try to keep users inside their own ecosystem. Organizers have to recreate events manually and platforms often “capture” the audience instead of sending traffic back to the original source. We wanted a different approach: a simple map where people can visually discover what’s happening nearby and then open the original event page directly. One important realization during development was that the project should not become “another events website.” That changed many product decisions: * the map became the main interface * event links became more important than copied event content * guest submissions became frictionless and free * we focused heavily on local/community events, not only major commercial ones We also discovered that regional localization matters a lot. The needs of someone exploring Umbria are different from someone searching globally, so the platform evolved into a multi-region architecture with localized domains and experiences. The project started as an experiment around local event discovery in Italy and gradually evolved into a broader platform that now runs on web, iOS and Android.

Who hunted MiaMapa?

MiaMapa was hunted by Ivan Sokolov. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
