Using traditional BI tools, I found that semantic layers can quickly become complex. As more rules, calculations and logic are added, self-serve analytics becomes harder rather than easier.
That’s one of the reasons I built Metricwise. It adds a metrics layer on top of the semantic layer, where important business metrics can be defined once and reused everywhere.
So whether someone builds a line chart, a KPI, a table or a completely different dashboard, the underlying metric stays the same. Teams get more freedom to explore their data without creating different versions of the same metric across the business.
