Metafocus is built for finishing, not collecting. Every project starts with a definition of done and one small next step. Work on one thing at a time, park the rest, and get a weekly review showing what you finished and what is stuck.
Metafocus has been live on the stores for a while. Today I'm properly introducing it.
It started because I kept a very tidy to-do list and finished almost nothing on it. The list was never the bottleneck. I just never got anything over the line.
So the app is built on a few opinions that are probably too strong.
You cannot create a project without saying what done means. It is a required field. If you can't describe the finished state, you don't have a project, you have a mood.
You also can't create one without a first step, and it has to be small. "Write a short checklist" small.
One project is active at a time. The rest get parked. Parked isn't a failure state, it just isn't now, and the home screen stops mentioning it.
If the active project has no next step, the home screen keeps asking for one until you give it one. That missing next step is usually the real reason something stalls. Not motivation.
The weekly review shows two things: what you finished, and what's stuck.
There is a Pomodoro timer, and it's the most built out part of the app, which is a little misleading. It's there to serve the finishing. It isn't the point.
