Mercury Cortex is an open-source, local-first MCP server that gives AI coding assistants persistent knowledge across your projects. It helps AI search existing code, patterns, and project context so you can reuse what you’ve already built instead of starting from scratch.
I built Mercury Cortex after running into the same problem repeatedly: starting a new project with an AI assistant often means starting from zero context. I wanted to experiment with giving AI a persistent local knowledge layer across my projects.
