Mechvibes plays a sound for every key you press and every click, in any app. Pick from the community library, from mechanical switches to typewriters and game sounds, or make your own in the browser. Free and open source, for Windows, Linux and Mac.
Mechvibes plays a sound for every key you press and every click, in any app, so a laptop keyboard can sound like a Cherry MX Blue, a typewriter or something sillier. I first released it in 2019 as a small Electron app, and it has been downloaded about 7 million times since, across GitHub and SourceForge.
Mechvibes 3 is a full rewrite in Rust. What's new:
- Mouse sounds, with their own packs
- A community library of nearly 1,000 packs, installed with one click
- A browser editor: record your keyboard, it finds each keystroke, and you give keys their sound
- Themes for colors, logo and background, even a GIF. Share yours as a file or a link, or grab one from the theme library
- Mood: rain, forest or a coffee shop playing under your typing to boost your productivity
It's free and MIT licensed, for Windows and Linux, with experimental Mac builds for Apple Silicon and Intel. I'd love to hear which sound you end up keeping on all day.
BTW: It's Hypership Day, so tell me what you'd fix, change or add. I'll ship as many requests as I can before the day ends.
