.md Viewer
The Markdown viewer for non-coders. Runs in your browser.
AI agents (Claude, Codex, Cursor) write tons ofmd files — but most viewers need you to install developer tools.md Viewer opens them in your browser. Drag, drop, read. No signup. Free Mac/Windows app adds auto-reload, multi-tab, PDF/HTML export. 11 languages.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built .md Viewer because my non-technical partner kept asking me
"how do I open this .md file?" — files I (or Claude/ChatGPT/Codex) was
sending her. Notepad shows it as asterisks and pound signs. Every
proper viewer (Typora, Obsidian, VS Code) assumes you're a developer:
vault concepts, plugin systems, keyboard shortcuts.
I wanted a viewer that's the opposite. So I built one:
🌐 **Lives in your browser**
Drag any .md / .html / .pdf onto mdviewer.co and read it instantly.
Files never leave your device. No install, no signup, no vault.
🤖 **Built for AI workflows**
The free Mac/Windows app watches the folders AI agents write to and
auto-reloads. No F5. You read while the AI writes — Claude Code,
Codex CLI, Cursor, Aider, any agent that writes files.
🌍 **For everyone, not just developers**
11 languages out of the box (日本語, English, 简体中文, 繁體中文,
한국어, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Русский, Italiano).
No jargon. Open a file. Read.
💰 **Free is enough for most**
Browser version + core desktop features = free forever. Pro is
optional, for people running multiple AI agents in parallel:
$2/month, $12/year, or $25 lifetime.
**Try without anything to install** → https://mdviewer.co
**Mac/Windows native app** → mdviewer.co/about#download
Would love feedback on:
- Does the browser version actually replace the desktop app for you?
- What viewer features are missing for your AI workflow?
- Pricing — is $25 lifetime right, or should it stay subscription?
Source coming open later this year.
