Hi Product Hunt 👋 I build tools for people who write math. Every workflow I've had breaks at the same moment: I'm writing in a chat, a note, or a doc, and I need one equation. So I stop, open a separate editor, fight with syntax I half-remember, copy the result, and come back. The equation takes ten seconds. The context switch takes a minute. MathHover is my attempt to delete that minute. One shortcut opens a math panel right where your cursor already is. You type familiar tokens, live typeset candidates appear, you pick one, press Enter — and the LaTeX is pasted straight back into the app you were in. Three things I care about, and they're not going to change: • No account. Nothing to sign up for. • No cloud, no AI calls. Your equations never leave your machine. • Free. There is no paid tier waiting behind this. The macOS app is downloadable today and works. What I'm doing now is finishing v1.0 — deeper system-level integration, Windows, LaTeX/Unicode Math/MathML export, and a documented compatibility list — and releasing the whole thing under Apache-2.0.
