Top comment

I wanted to build a quiz game that felt more social and competitive than a traditional trivia app. The idea behind Mario Pepper was simple: make it easy to challenge your friends, play a quick game and have a reason to come back for a rematch. The problem I wanted to solve was that many quiz games either feel too complicated or become repetitive. With Mario Pepper, I focused on short 10-question battles where both knowledge and speed matter, combined with Peppers, rankings and leaderboards to make every match feel like it counts. The idea evolved quite a bit while I was building it. What started as a simple multiplayer quiz gradually became more of a social game, with profiles, friend challenges, random opponents, rankings and daily challenges. Throughout the process, the main goal stayed the same: keep it simple, fast and fun.

Who hunted Mario Pepper?

Mario Pepper was hunted by Johan Svenring. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
