I’ve been building LunarClip, a Windows app that turns long videos into short vertical clips for TikTok, Shorts, and Reels.
The main idea is simple: everything runs locally on your PC.
Finds the best moments in long videos
Automatically reframes videos for vertical
Adds animated captions
Works with streams, podcasts, gameplay, and sports
No video uploads or cloud processing
Free plan, with support for videos several hours long
I built it this way because I got tired of tools that make you upload huge files, wait in a queue, and pay by the minute.
A few honest notes:
Windows 10/11 only for now
The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will show a warning
I publish checksums on the download page
I'm a solo developer, so there are definitely still some rough edges
I'd really like to hear from people who already make short-form content:
Would local processing / no uploads make you choose one clipping tool over another?
And what's the most annoying part of your current workflow?
Anything you'd expect from a tool like this that I'm missing?
I'll leave the link in the comments so this doesn't feel like an ad. Happy to answer questions about how it works or what I'm building.

Who hunted LunarClip?
LunarClip was hunted by Mert ALP. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
