The Problem:
I built this because I absolutely hated every mood tracker on the App Store. They felt clinical, boring, and forced the infinite complexity of human emotion into a tiny 1-to-5 scale of cartoon smiley faces. We don't just feel 'happy' or 'sad'—sometimes we feel a quiet melancholy, or a buzzing, overstimulated burnout. I realized we didn't need another data-entry tool; we needed a mirror.
What makes Lumivel different?
Instead of rigid scales, Lumivel acts as a digital sanctuary. You can log your mood using a stream-of-consciousness voice note or our visual "Sensory Quiz." On the backend, we use Google’s Gemini 2.0 Flash Lite and Russell’s Circumplex Model of Affect to map your exact psychological coordinates.
We then translate that data into:
✨ Generative Auras: Math-driven colors that pulse and breathe based on your energy and valence.
📜 Algorithmic Poetry: 3-sentence, hyper-specific readings and rituals (strictly no toxic positivity or clinical jargon).
🎧 Ambient Soundscapes: Audio matched perfectly to your emotional state.
🦊 Spirit Totems: Animated companions that react to your energy and the real-world weather outside your window.
How the process evolved:
During development, I realized mental health shouldn't be a solitary confinement, but it also shouldn't be a performative social feed. So we added a high-friction, invite-only "Friend Circle." You can't DM or comment, but you can silently send "Vibes" (like a virtual coffee or a hug) so your loved ones know you're thinking of them without the pressure of replying.
I put my heart into the psychology, AI architecture, and generative design of this app to prove that technology doesn't have to be cold.
