I built Log Spend Auditor after working with observability environments where Splunk ingest can become expensive, but understanding what is actually worth reviewing is not always straightforward.
I wanted a tool that could help answer a simple question: where is the ingest volume going, and what deserves a closer look?
Log Spend Auditor runs locally and uses read-only Splunk metadata or CSV exports. It does not send raw Splunk events to a SaaS and has no telemetry.
The free Community edition includes Quickscan, which helps surface the main candidates. Pro goes deeper with the full inventory, evidence, explanations, recommendations, risk context, and HTML/Markdown reports.
I’m starting with Linux x86_64 and I’d especially value feedback from Splunk, platform, DevOps, and observability engineers.
