Lockpaw

Lock your Mac, close the lid, agents keep running

One hotkey covers your Mac's screen without sleeping it. Close the lid and Claude Code, Codex or Gemini keeps working. When one needs you, the locked screen glows and the alert says which agent and why. Touch ID to unlock. Free, open source, no analytics.

Hey PH, Erik here, I'm in Stockholm. Lockpaw started because I kept walking back to my desk to check whether Claude Code was stuck on a permission prompt. Now the covered screen glows when it is, and I can see that from across the room. This release adds the thing I wanted most: close the MacBook lid and the agent keeps running, no external monitor needed. It needs a small helper with admin rights to do that, because macOS doesn't offer another way. It only kicks in while the screen is locked and backs off if the Mac gets hot or the battery gets low. Two people sent code for this one, including a fix for a Spaces swipe that could peek behind the cover. Having strangers fix your bugs is still a strange and nice feeling. It's free and will stay free. If you end up using it daily, there's a pay-what-you-want supporter licence with a few extra mascots. Happy to answer anything, especially the "why does it need root" question.

Lockpaw was hunted by Erik Nielsen. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
