LocalScribe. Transcribe locally on Mac.

Talk is text. Record conversations, transcribe on-device.

LocalScribe is a macOS app I built to capture conversations and turn them into text you keep. It records both sides (your mic and the other party), then transcribes and separates speakers on-device with Whisper or Parakeet. Apple silicon only: the models run locally and nothing leaves your Mac. Made for people who curate their own local knowledgebase. The transcript lands as plain text in a folder you pick. Telling people you're recording is your responsibility. No cloud. No subscription.

Thanks for taking a look. A few things I expect to come up: - Privacy: nothing leaves your Mac. Recording, transcription and speaker separation all run on-device. - Other options (Otter, Granola and the like): those are cloud services with access to transcripts. LocalScribe writes plain text files into a folder you own, so they can feed whatever local knowledgebase or notes tool you already use. Offline first, one-time payment instead of a subscription. - Engines: Whisper (multilingual) or Parakeet (English), your pick per transcription. Speaker separation works best if you tell it how many people were talking. Happy to go deep on any of these.
