Hi everyone, I'm Lukasz, solo developer behind Local Waifu. I built this because every AI companion app on the market has the same two problems: your most personal conversations live on someone else's server, and you rent access through a subscription that can change or disappear. Local Waifu runs entirely on your Mac. Models run locally through Ollama, memory is stored in SQLite with embeddings and a knowledge graph, so your companion actually remembers you — across weeks, not just within a session. Nothing ever leaves your device. Pricing is a one-time purchase with a 30-day refund. If you have your own API keys, BYOK is supported as a fallback for heavier models. Happy to answer anything about the memory architecture, model selection by RAM tier, or why I chose local-first. Would love your feedback.

Who hunted Local Waifu?

Local Waifu was hunted by Łukasz Blania. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
