Local Recorder records your screen, a window, a region, or your camera straight into a local project folder. No account, no telemetry, no cloud step — nothing leaves your machine. Recordings are written through an fsync-backed journal with atomic commit, so an interrupted session is recoverable instead of lost. A local Library keeps every project browsable and replayable. Open source (GPL-3.0). Apple Silicon technical preview — not yet signed or notarized.
I built Local Recorder because every screen recorder I tried wanted an account, a cloud upload, or a watermark — for a tool that only needs to write a file to my own disk.
So this one does exactly that. Screen, window, region, or camera goes straight into a local project folder. No account, no telemetry, no network calls. The recording pipeline is fsync-journaled with an atomic commit, so if the app or the machine dies mid-recording, you get a recoverable project instead of a corrupt file — that turned out to be the hardest and most interesting part to get right.
Honest status: this is an Apple Silicon technical preview, not signed or notarized yet, so macOS will warn on first launch (the repo has a one-line installer that verifies the checksum first). System audio is disabled in packaged builds. It is GPL-3.0 and a modified work based on an upstream browser recorder — the README documents exactly what changed.
