Who hunted Local Office?
Local Office was hunted by Marco Franzon. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Why I made Local Office
Offices run on paper: contracts, invoices, scanned letters, purchase orders, meeting minutes. AI assistants are good at reading that kind of material, but using one usually means uploading your clients' documents to someone else's servers. Many small businesses can't do that, or would rather not.
So I built an assistant that runs entirely on a PC. You drop in your files and ask questions. Every answer cites the page it comes from, so you can check it in one click. Nothing leaves the computer unless you connect an outside service yourself.
It's still early. I've tested it on one Mac with one set of documents, and small local models make mistakes. That's why I'd really value feedback from people who use it on their own work.
Feedback that would help most
- Wrong or unsupported answers: what you asked, what it said, and what the cited page actually says.
- Documents it reads badly: scans, photos, tables or file types where the text comes out garbled or incomplete.
- Your PC and speed: your model and memory, and whether answers felt fast enough to use.
- Setup problems: anything confusing or broken during install or the first model download.
- Wiki mistakes: wrong facts, durges it shouldn't have made.
- Skills you'd want: office tasks you do every week that it could handle.
- What stopped you: the moment you went back to doing it by hand.
