LinGoat

An efficient way to learn languages

LinGoat is a language app focused on language learning efficiency. LinGoat combines a spaced repetition system (SRS) with active production exercises, two methodologies that are typically mutually exclusive in language learning apps. LinGoat creates a language translation exercise which contains multiple due cards from the SRS. The user translates the sentence into the target language. Each word and grammar concept are graded and scheduled back into the SRS individually

I loved the science based efficiency of spaced repetition apps like Anki and Clozemaster, but their fatal flaw is that you never get to actually produce the language. I ended up knowing a lot of vocabulary but couldn't write or speak. I turned to ChatGPT to get around this. I would ask ChatGPT to prompt me with sentences to translate to help me practice my production. The problem was that this didn't tie back into my spaced repetition dataset. That's why I created LinGoat. We have users produce real sentences that then get fed back into our spaced repetition system. We determine exactly what words and grammar concepts you got right and wrong in each exercise for maximum precision.
