Hey everyone :-) this is our first launch on product hunt!
The idea for Leave Your Face Alone came from a friend who had a long-standing nail-biting habit. She told us she often did it completely unconsciously whenever she was deeply focused at her desk, especially while studying. The only thing that reliably stopped her was when her husband noticed her hand wandering toward her face and gently reminded her.
That made us realize something: her husband couldn’t always be there while she was studying or working. So we asked ourselves: what if everyone had a little buddy sitting next to them, always paying attention and giving them a gentle reminder whenever they slipped back into one of these unconscious habits?
Leave Your Face Alone is our attempt to build exactly that. It detects hand-to-face movements locally in your browser and gently reminds you before the habit continues. It’s designed for common desk-based habits like nail biting, face touching, skin picking, lip touching, and rubbing your eyes.
From day one, privacy was our highest priority. Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your webcam feed is never uploaded, stored, or processed on a server.
However, it’s important for us to note that Leave Your Face Alone is not a medical treatment. It’s simply an awareness tool designed to help people notice unconscious habits in real time while they work or study. To make it useful for different habits, you can choose exactly which areas of your face should be monitored, allowing you to tailor the detection to your needs. We also made it possible to keep the app running in the background so you can stay focused on your work while your personal reminder quietly watches over you. Session statistics help you track your habits over time and see your progress. We even built in an accountability feature that lets you share your progress with friends or family, so they can follow your journey and help keep you motivated.
