LarpIn

LinkedIn, but everyone admits they're larping

A working parody social network. One global feed, so everyone lands in the same place, and you can DM anyone with no connection request. You get a fake persona on arrival, no signup. Posts get a Larp Level scored on buzzword density. The Larpboard ranks everyone by openly fake follower counts. Larpmaxx writes the whole "You need to be X-maxxing" post for you. Reactions include Grindset, Labubu and Larp Larp Larp Sahur. Premium costs $0 and the gold badge does nothing. Built on Rails 8.

Top comment

Hey Product Hunt! I built LarpIn because half of LinkedIn already reads like performance art, and somebody had to make it official. It's a real social network where everything is a bit. Everything posts to one global feed, so a post from an account that nobody follows still lands in the same place as everything else. You can DM anyone on the platform, and the bots reply instantly. Registration happens TO you: land on the site and you're instantly "Chadwick Sterling III, Serial Founder | Exited (emotionally) | Raising a pre-idea round." React with Grindset or Larp Larp Larp Sahur, hit Larpmaxx to have any word turned into a full "You need to be stealthmaxxing" post, and climb the Larpboard, where the follower counts are openly fake and people compete over them regardless. My favorite detail: there's one actual medieval LARPer in the seed data who joined by mistake and has decided everyone here shows incredible character commitment. It's open source (github.com/joeamroo/larpin) and free. Premium is also free. The gold badge does nothing. Ask me anything, and post your best larp.

Who hunted LarpIn?

LarpIn was hunted by Youssef Ateya. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
