Lantern

A nightly mood tracker for the honest keeper

Lantern tracks your mood through one nightly question: how did the conditions run? You mark your watch — Clear, Settled, Overcast, Squall, or Storm. The mapping is yours. The logbook shows your nights as a heatmap. Tides reveals the shape of recent weeks. The raven leaves a short observation after each entry — not advice, just what the record shows. Private by design. Free. Android only.

Hello Producthunt 👋

I built Lantern because I wanted a mood tracker that didn't feel like a productivity app.
No gamification, no streaks, no "you're doing great!" — just an honest record of how things have been.

The lighthouse/keeper metaphor felt right to me.
You log the watch, the raven observes, the tides show the pattern over time.
It's a bit different from most trackers and I'm curious whether it resonates. 😊

The core app is free and always will be — no account needed, everything stays on your device. I'm also working on a premium layer for people who want more depth: longer history, richer patterns, maybe a few things I don't want to spoil yet. But the free version is complete, not a trial.

Android only for now. Would love to hear what you think — especially from anyone who's tried other mood trackers and found them too pushy or too cheerful.

Who hunted Lantern?

Lantern was hunted by Martine. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
