Lanbitou
A memory helper for finding where you put things
Lanbitou is a simple memory helper for the things you own in real life. Tell it where you put something — for example, “My passport is in the safe.” Later, ask “Where is my passport?” and Lanbitou brings the location back. It is designed to stay simpler than inventory software: no spreadsheets, no complicated cataloging, just remember and find. Lanbitou also supports family sharing, so family members can remember and find shared household items together, while personal memories stay private.
I built Lanbitou because I kept noticing the same small but surprisingly frustrating problem: we often remember that we put something somewhere “safe,” but months later we have no idea where that safe place was.
I didn’t want to build another inventory system. Most people don’t want to create categories, spreadsheets, or databases just to remember where they put a passport, a spare key, or an important document.
So Lanbitou is built around two simple actions: remember and find.
You can tell it, “My passport is in the safe,” and later ask, “Where is my passport?”
We’re also exploring family use, where shared household items can be remembered together while personal memories remain private.
I’d love to hear how other people currently solve this problem — notes, photos, memory, or something else?
