Most QR generators bury a subscription in the fine print: your code stops working unless you keep paying. klick.tools doesn't. QR codes (URL, WiFi, vCard, email, phone, geo) render entirely in your browser and export as PNG, SVG or PDF - the payload never touches a server. Short links come with click stats and editable targets. No account, no expiry, no tracking cookies, hosted in Germany. There's a REST API as well, and creating a short link works without an account at all.
Hi Product Hunt,
I build websites for clients, and the same thing kept happening: they needed a QR code for a flyer, grabbed one from the first Google result, and three weeks later the code went dead because a trial had expired. On a printed menu, that is not a minor annoyance - it is a reprint.
So we built klick.tools around two rules:
1. No account, no expiry. A code you generate today still works next year. Nothing to cancel, nothing to forget.
2. The payload stays in your browser. The generator runs fully client-side: we render to SVG and derive PNG and PDF from it via canvas. That matters more than it sounds, because people put WiFi passwords and private contact details into these things. There is simply nowhere for that data to go on our end.
The part we did not anticipate was contrast. Brand colours and scannability fight each other constantly, so we run a WCAG relative-luminance check and warn below 3:1 - light grey on white looks lovely on screen and fails on paper.
There is also a REST API. Creating a short link is a single POST and works without an account at all (rate-limited per IP); with a key you get click stats and editing.
The basic tools stay free. We plan to monetise later through team features (custom domains, deeper analytics) and API tiers.
