Every AI tool I looked at wanted two things I couldn't give it: my clients' documents in someone else's cloud, and a GPU.
The first is a dealbreaker for most of the businesses I'd spent nine years working with — law firms, accountants, logistics operators. They handle other people's confidential files. "Upload it to our servers" isn't a feature to them, it's a compliance problem.
The second is quieter but just as blocking. Every guide to running AI locally starts with "you'll need a dedicated GPU and 32GB of RAM." That's not what's sitting on desks in real offices. Real offices have a four-year-old Dell with 8 or 16 gigs, and that's what the work has to run on.
So I spent over a year building for that machine.
KleverDeck indexes your contracts, invoices, reports, scans and recordings on your own PC. Ask it anything about them and it answers with citations back to the source document. It tracks renewals and expiry dates automatically, and generates Word and Excel from your own data. Nothing is uploaded. There's a web search feature, and it's off unless you switch it on.
The parts I'm proudest of:
It runs on the hardware you already own. 7B primary model with a lightweight fallback, CPU-only from 8GB RAM. 400 mixed documents index in about 35 minutes on a standard 16GB office PC. The model ships inside the installer — nothing to download from anyone's cloud.
It refuses rather than guesses. Every claim has to trace back to a retrieved source or it doesn't publish. I built that gate before almost anything else, because an AI that invents a figure in a contract is worse than no AI at all.
It's boring underneath. 6,600 automated tests, golden corpora, shadow rollouts, kill switches. A tool that reads your contracts should be dull and dependable.
Honest limitations: Windows only, English only for now, 19GB install because the model comes with it, and it's a 7B-class model — sharp on your documents, not a replacement for frontier chat.
