Kidochess
Chess lessons that teach kids to really think
Chess lessons for kids 6–12, on Mac and Windows. A friendly coach shows every move out loud, then your child tries it on the board. 122 short lessons across 6 worlds. No ads, no accounts, works offline. Pay once, lifetime updates.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Ibrahim, and I made Kidochess.
Kids today can get any answer in a second. What still takes practice is thinking things through, and chess is one of the best ways I know to build that habit: stop, look closely, and plan ahead.
Kidochess is chess lessons for kids 6 to 12, on Mac and Windows:
A friendly coach shows every move out loud, in a real recorded voice, and each word lights up as it's said, so early readers can follow along.
Then your child tries it on the board. Every piece moves visibly; nothing teleports.
Wrong moves bounce back with a plain-language reason, and hints come in small steps so kids still find the answer themselves.
122 short lessons across 6 worlds, from "what's a pawn?" to their first checkmate.
A Parent Hub shows what they've learned and where they need a little help.
Made for families: no ads, no accounts, no chat. It works offline, and progress stays on your computer.
For the builders here: there's a Creator Studio (beta). Connect an AI assistant like Claude and ask for new lessons, worlds or piece sets made for your own child. Anything it builds has to pass the app's automated tests before it goes live.
Pay once, with lifetime updates, for up to 3 family computers: $10 for the first 30 families, then $15. We're also building in public: at 10,000 downloads, Kidochess becomes free for everyone.
I'd love your feedback, especially from parents and teachers. What should kids learn next?
P.S. Yes its a vibe coded app and its a sloppiness written all over it. But it really solves a problem of teaching my daughter how to play chess. I hope it'll do the same for all of you!
