Hey Product Hunt 👋 A wave of "pay-to-rank" boards showed up this year — you pay, you rank, that's the whole product. I liked the honesty and disliked almost every implementation: one flat list, click counts hidden, and a quiet "score" re-ranking you anyway. kickbid.lol is the version that doesn't hide anything: — Rank is the bid. The sum of what a listing has paid, nothing else. Ties go to whoever got there first. — Every listing publishes its click count, so you can work out cost per click before you bid instead of after. — 28 separately ranked categories plus a rolling 24-hour board, so you're not only competing with the biggest budget on the site. — $5 minimum, pay what you want above it. No subscription, no revenue share, no ads anywhere on the board. The part I didn't expect to be the interesting part: there is no `rank` column and no `total` column in the database. Both are derived at read time from an append-only ledger of bids. Storing rank means rewriting every row below a bidder on every payment; storing a total destroys the timestamps the 24-hour board needs. Once both are derived, "raise your bid and pay only the difference" stops being a feature you build — a listing's bid *is* the sum of its payments, so you charge the gap, append one row, and land on exactly the right total with no special case. Write-up: https://kickbid.lol/blog/how-we-... The board is wide open right now, so #1 is cheap. Curious what you'd want next — per-category click leaderboards? A public API over the ledger?
