Keukenkastje
Stop buying the same groceries twice
Keukenkastje is one kitchen for a household. One weekly menu, one shopping list, one pantry — whoever ticks something off in the shop ticks it off for everyone. Photograph a cookbook page or a screenshot and it becomes a real, searchable recipe. No ads.
Maker here. I built this because my partner and I kept buying the same groceries twice — she’d add things to a list on her phone, I had my own, and in the supermarket neither of us knew what was already in the cupboard.
A few honest notes, since it’s day one:
iOS only. There’s a web version but the app is where the work went.
The nutrition data is Dutch. I built this for my own kitchen first, so the ingredient database recognises “kipfilet” but not “chicken breast”. If you enter an English recipe you’ll get the recipe fine, but no calories or protein. That’s the next thing I’m fixing, and honestly it’s a big reason I’m posting — I want to know if it’s worth doing.
No subscription yet. There will be one. Nothing is behind a paywall today, and when the paid tier arrives the price won’t change on people who already paid. Half the one-star reviews of the apps I competed against are about exactly that.
What I’d like to know: do you and the people you live with share a list already, or does one person just do the shopping?
