I'm Charles, co-founder of Karafe along with Bryan. I'm a trained
oenologist — I taste around 6,000 wines a year to find the ones worth
sharing.
We built Karafe because we kept seeing the same thing: people freezing
in front of a wine list, not because they don't like wine, but because
nobody ever asked them what they actually like — in terms they
understand.
So instead of asking "do you prefer Burgundy or Rhône," we ask about
coffee, chocolate, and everyday tastes. Three minutes later, you get a
profile among 10 wine families, and a shortlist of bottles from small,
independent winemakers (many organic/biodynamic) that actually match.
We deliberately kept it AI-free — it's a statistical model plus real
human tasting behind every recommendation.
