Kaptr
Your camera is the controller, Kompete, Kwest, Konquer
Most trivia and photo apps ask you to type an answer or pick from your camera roll. Kaptr flips that: the camera is the answer box. Every day, you get one cryptic riddle, the same for every player, worldwide. Read it, look up from your phone, find the real thing wherever you are, and photograph it live. An AI referee scores your shot in seconds: 0 to 100, landing in a tier from Bronze up to Prismatic. That score reveal is the whole hook. It feels less like a grade and more like a pack opening.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Arun, and I built Kaptr solo. The idea started from a simple annoyance: every trivia or photo-guess app I tried asked me to type an answer or pick from photos I'd already taken. That felt backwards. So Kaptr does the opposite: your camera is the controller. You get a riddle, you go find the real thing, right now, wherever you are, and snap it live. An AI scores your shot in seconds, and watching that score land (Bronze up to the rare Prismatic) is honestly the most fun part to build and the most fun part to play.
A few things I'm proud of under the hood: no photo you take is ever stored on Kaptr's servers, it's scored in memory and dropped. And everything in the app you see in screenshots and the demo clip is the real, live app. No mockups.
This is a Shipaton 2026 build, and I've been posting the process in public on X (@TheArunJagadish) since day one, including a rejected App Store submission and the fix that got it back into review. If you're curious about the build, not just the app, that's where I've been documenting it.
Would love to hear what you think, especially if you try today's riddle. What score did you get?
