Jylos
Local-first open-source knowledge management app
Jylos is a local-first open-source PKMS built with Java and JavaFX. It features Markdown notes, wiki-links, backlinks, interactive knowledge graphs, plugins, themes, Kanban boards, encrypted notes, Git synchronization, and support for SQLite databases or Markdown vaults.
Hi everyone, I'm Edu, the creator of Jylos.
Jylos started as a small personal project to explore Java desktop application development, JavaFX, Markdown processing and software architecture. Over time, it grew into a complete local-first knowledge management application.
I'm a big fan of tools like Obsidian, Joplin and the open-source community. Jylos is not intended to replace them, but to offer another open-source alternative with its own approach.
Some of its main features include Markdown notes, wiki-links, backlinks, interactive knowledge graphs, plugins, themes, Kanban boards, encrypted notes and Git synchronization.
Everything is stored locally: no accounts, no cloud dependency and no telemetry.
This project has been a huge learning journey for me, and I’m really excited to share it with the community. I would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions and ideas for future improvements.
Thanks for taking a look at Jylos.

Who hunted Jylos?
Jylos was hunted by Eduardo Díaz Sánchez. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
