JSON Doc

Exchange business documents as signed JSON

JSON Doc lets you send the data itself, as JSON, and keeps it: - Readable: shown as a document you can print. - Portable: it's just a file, so you can keep using email. - Verifiable: a signature shows who sent it (their domain) and whether it has been changed. The app is one HTML file with no dependencies. Everything runs in your browser.

When exchanging business documents, both the sender and receiver typically use software, so creating and parsing documents adds extra work. Directly connecting systems also requires effort, so people often end up sending documents by email. I made JSON Doc to try another approach: just send the JSON file itself! A small HTML tool makes it readable like a document, and a signature lets the recipient confirm whether the data has changed and which domain signed it. You can still send the file by email. Could this replace some of the business documents that are sent as PDFs today?

Who hunted JSON Doc?

JSON Doc was hunted by Kaita Furukawa. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
