Journey

Turn your social media addiction into a fun video game

JourneyKeep is a screen time app that forces you to touch grass each morning to start scrolling. You'll have a focus buddy at your side named Sprout to show you how focused you are each day, and the only way to unlock your distractions is by spending the gold you earn from real-world quests like working out, studying, or drinking water. Available on iOS and built by an 18-year-old, backed by research with USC and the University of Melbourne.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Garner, I'm 18, and I built Journey because every screen time app I tried had one or two good ideas but none of them put it all together. Some had blocking, some had gamification, some had habit tracking, but nothing combined everything the Screen Time API can do into one app that actually felt good to use. The design was always an afterthought.

As a teenager who spent way too long doomscrolling, I wanted to build something I'd actually want to open. So I went with a dark fantasy RPG style, made unlocking your apps feel like earning something, and packed in every feature I wished existed in one place.

Here's how it works:

🍃 The more you scroll, the weaker your focus friend named Sprout gets. Your screen time has real, visible consequences

⚔️ Buy back screen time by completing real-world tasks like working out, drinking water, or touching grass

🌅 Complete one daily habit each morning to unlock your apps so you don't doomscroll right after waking up

We're also working with researchers at USC and the University of Melbourne studying digital wellness, which has shaped a lot of how the app works.

Would love to hear what you think. Happy to answer any questions about the build, the design choices, or anything else.

Thanks so much,

Garner

Who hunted Journey?

Journey was hunted by Garner Hall. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
