Hi Product Hunt! I'm thrilled to introduce Jiskta. If you've ever tried to integrate open climate data from sources like Copernicus or NASA into an app, you know the pain. You have to download massive, complex NetCDF files, learn specialized geospatial libraries, and normally wait minutes to compute simple aggregations. It’s a huge bottleneck for developers trying to build ESG tools, logistics software, or climate-tech apps. I wanted to make querying historical climate and air quality data as easy and fast as querying a standard database. Jiskta is a REST API that serves over a decade of high-resolution climate data (NO2, PM2.5, Temperature, Wind, etc.) in milliseconds. To pull this off, I couldn't use a standard PostGIS setup. Jiskta is powered by a custom-built C++ query engine using a custom bit-packed format and io_uring with O_DIRECT. It reads data straight from NVMe flash storage, entirely bypassing the OS page cache. The result is sub-200ms response times for data that usually takes minutes to process elsewhere. What you can do: - Query 10+ years of historical data by bounding box, point, or NUTS3 region. - Instantly get back aggregated stats (daily, monthly, seasonal means) without doing the math yourself. - Integrate via a simple REST API using standard JSON or CSV. I built this specifically for developers, researchers, and climate-tech founders who need speed and simplicity.
