Hi Product Hunt, I used to build my ESP32 projects in C/C++. It works well, but for small experiments and proofs of concept I was spending more time on toolchains and libraries than on the actual code. I have always been curious about programming languages, so I started a small one with the libraries I use most already built in. That "small project" grew into a full system: a custom language, a virtual machine that runs on the ESP32, and a compiler targeting that VM. At some point I made the same VM run on Windows so I could test everything before flashing hardware. Once that worked, an IDE around it was the obvious next step, and it kept growing: - Code editor with autocompletion - Debugger with breakpoints and variable watch - One-click flashing to the ESP32 - Image, sprite and tilemap editors, plus a chiptune music tracker - GPIO simulator, so programs with LEDs, actuators or panels can be tested on the PC with no board attached The result is a very fast way to prototype MQTT integrations, REST APIs, sensor tests and small retro-style games. I have been using it for demos myself, including a recent ray tracing experiment. Happy to go deeper into any part of the system: the language design, the VM, the compiler or the simulator.
