Janus makes it easy to join any video call or stream live as any character. Traditionally this is done using the creation of a 3d model, rigging the model and the running of blender to create the swap. Here we take care of everything in the cloud, no work required and with <100ms latency!
How it works
Select an avatar and start the stream. Expect to wait 1-2 minutes for the session to start. When successfully loaded you will see the avatar reacting to all the movements you are doing on your webcam.
To be able to stream this avatar to others, you have two main choices. Either installing our Chrome Extension or using OBS to create a virtual camera.
Chrome Extension
When installing our Chrome extension a new device called Janus Virtual Camera will show up when joining a video call in the browser. Pick or create an avatar, select “Janus” as your camera in Discord, Zoom, Twitch, or any similar platform, and you’re live. Viewers simply see your avatar moving with your expressions.
OBS
When you have joined a call you will see a button saying Copy OBS URL. Go to OBS, add a new browser source, and paste this URL in. OBS will load the stream and you should be able to see your avatar. Then create a virtual camera, and you are now ready to join any video call or stream with your avatar.
