IngaBoard
A Simpler Way to Build Causal Diagrams.
IngaBoard is a minimalist, keyboard-driven application that turns fragments of "Cause and Effect" into structured Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) instantly. No manual boxes, no dragging lines. By stripping away superficial decoration, we reveal the inherent beauty of structural truth.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Tokihiko Ando, the founder of IngaBoard. As a full-stack professional navigating complex healthcare strategy, I built this tool out of a sheer necessity for structural truth.
We often try to map out complex real-world relationships using mind maps or online whiteboards. But mind maps trap us in strict hierarchies (trees), and general whiteboards force us to fight with boxes and lines, creating a massive cognitive tax.
That is why I created IngaBoard—a minimalist, keyboard-driven application that turns fragments of "Cause and Effect" into structured Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) instantly. Logic, Visualized. No Drawing Required.
IngaBoard is a tribute to the "Less is More" philosophy. It is built on a few core principles that reject modern software bloat:
- The "Inga" (因果) Concept: Derived from the Japanese word for "Cause and Effect," IngaBoard is built for serenity and focus. Identifying a cause should be a quiet, deliberate act of truth-seeking, entirely stripped of superficial decoration.
- Withered Technology, New Directions: Inspired by Gunpei Yokoi’s philosophy of "Lateral Thinking with Withered Technology" (枯れた技術の水平思考), IngaBoard is built on C++ and the legendary Graphviz™ engine. We use stable, time-tested technologies to prioritize longevity over ephemeral trends. Your data is managed via high-integrity JSON, DOT, and Mermaid.
- Human-Centric Truth vs. AI Noise: While AI can guess at causes, the back-and-forth "chatting" required to refine a complex diagram via AI is often slower and more prone to hallucination. IngaBoard is a "Fast Tool for Deep Thinking," built for professionals who need to define structure with surgical precision.
- Total Privacy (Software as a Tool): 100% Offline. No cloud, no telemetry, and no "Share" button. It works in the most secure, air-gapped environments because your sensitive data belongs exclusively on your machine.
Engineered for real-world complexity:
Beyond simple diagramming, IngaBoard natively supports Logical Gates (AND/OR) for Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and a specialized Intervention Layer to clearly distinguish between what happened (Causal Edges) and what we will do to prevent it (Intervention Links) without altering historical facts.
While IngaBoard was tempered in the rigorous fires of Medical Safety and Quality Management, it is a universal instrument for any structured thought—whether you are structuring legal arguments, mapping system failures, setting goals, or writing academic papers.
If it has a cause and an effect, it belongs on IngaBoard. I’m incredibly excited to share this distraction-free instrument with the Product Hunt community and would love to hear your thoughts!
Thank you for your support! ⚖️🌲

Who hunted IngaBoard?
IngaBoard was hunted by Tokihiko Ando. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post.
