Imgkeep
Save any image as PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF, with 4 permissions
Right-click any image to save it as PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF (animations keep moving), straight into your folder. Converted on your computer; nothing is uploaded. Only 4 permissions, no access to your pages, no tracking. Free and open source, for Chrome and Edge.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Yaron, and I made Imgkeep.
The problem: Chrome and Edge now often save images as WebP or AVIF, and plenty of apps still won't open them. The most popular fix, the "Save image as Type" extension (1M+ users), was sold in late 2025 and removed from the Chrome Web Store as malware in March 2026 after it started injecting affiliate links.
So I built a replacement with one rule: it should be impossible for it to do that.
What it does
• Right-click any image → PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF (animated images stay animated)
• Saves straight into a folder you pick, with your own file names, and never overwrites anything
• WebP and AVIF become files every app opens
Why you can trust it
• Only 4 permissions, and no access to the pages you visit
• The only thing it downloads is the image you clicked; conversion happens on your computer
• No ads, no tracking, no account, no review pop-ups
• Open source (MIT), so anyone can check
It's free on Chrome and Edge. I'd love your feedback: what's missing, what's confusing, what breaks. There's a public ideas board where you can suggest and vote on features: https://imgkeep.app/ideas.html
