ImageThings
63 image tools that never upload your image
Every other image tool makes you upload a private photo to a stranger's server, wait, then download it back. ImageThings does the work in your browser tab — the file never leaves your device. 63 tools, no account, no queue, no file size limit from us.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I built ImageThings because I kept hitting the same annoying loop: I need to shrink one screenshot, so I search "compress image", land on a site plastered with ads, upload my file to someone's server, wait in a queue, and download it back. For a 200 KB screenshot. And I've just handed a private image to a company I know nothing about.
Browsers have been able to do all of this locally for years. So ImageThings does exactly that.
How it actually works
Your image is decoded onto a canvas in your own tab and processed there. There is no upload endpoint — there's no server in the path at all, it's a static site. You can open DevTools, filter the Network tab by Fetch/XHR, and compress a photo: you'll see the analytics ping and no image data. Your file isn't in any request, because no code ever puts it in one.
That single decision is why it also feels instant. There's no round trip to be slow.
What's in it
63 tools across five jobs — compress, convert, resize/crop/rotate, adjust, and strip metadata. That includes the stuff that's weirdly hard to find for free: compress to an exact target size (50 KB, 100 KB, 500 KB…), HEIC → JPG for iPhone photos, EXIF viewing and removal, and background removal.
No account. No watermark. No "free tier, 3 files per day".
Two things I want to be upfront about
The site loads Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views. So I say "your images are never uploaded" — which is true and is the point — rather than "no tracking", which would not be. The analytics never sees your images because they never leave your device.
Because everything runs on your own hardware, a very large image on a very old phone can be slow or run out of memory. I moved the heavy pixel work (sharpen, background removal, upscale) onto a Web Worker so the page stays responsive while it runs — on my test image that took the longest main thread block from 202 ms down to 17 ms. But I'd rather tell you the limitation than pretend it doesn't exist.

I'd genuinely like to know which tool you reach for first, and what's missing. The gaps are what I'll build next.

Who hunted ImageThings?
ImageThings was hunted by Sangamesh Kalbemullge. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
