Hush

Hush the noise

Hush the noise. Reclaim your focus. A minimalist macOS menu-bar app that quietly quits idle apps so you reclaim RAM, battery, and attention.

Top comment

Hey everyone,

I built Hush because I’m a heavy multitasker and was constantly losing focus. Background apps kept stealing my attention and eating up RAM — and in the age of AI, every single MB counts when you’ve got local models running in the background :-)
I just wanted something dead simple: press ⌥⌘H, and it instantly quits everything except the app I’m working in, then starts a clean 25-minute focus session. It even syncs with macOS Focus modes — so when I turn on Work mode, Hush automatically kicks in too.
It’s tiny (just 2 MB), super fast, privacy-first, and fully open source.
Would love your honest feedback — especially if you’re also struggling to stay focused. What’s your biggest distraction or focus killer these days?
