Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Iurii, the founder of HTPBE. The problem I kept running into: PDFs are the most trusted document format in business — invoices, contracts, diplomas, bank statements. And they're trivially easy to edit. Most people assume a PDF looks legitimate = a PDF is legitimate. That's not true. Any PDF editor can change an amount, a date, a name, and the result is visually identical to the original. HTPBE reads the binary structure of the PDF — not the rendered content. A PDF file keeps a structural record of every save operation: metadata timestamps, Creator/Producer fields, xref table revisions, digital signature status. If the file was modified after creation, that record shows it. The tool returns three verdicts: → intact — no structural evidence of post-creation modification → modified — clear evidence found (with specific markers) → inconclusive — created with consumer software, structural signals ambiguous The free web tool works without an account. The API is for teams that want to automate this check at intake — before a payment runs, before a contract is signed, before a hire is made. Happy to answer anything about how the detection works, what it misses, or why I built it this way.
