I grew up glued to a screen. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been heavily invested in the dark fantasy worlds and survival horror games of my generation. And while I loved the lore, I was constantly reminded that the terrifying monsters and atmospheres I was experiencing were directly inspired by immortal literary classics. Accessing those original stories was never the issue. These foundational texts are all in the public domain—you can find the documents online in seconds or pick up gorgeous, leather-bound editions at any bookstore. The real bottleneck was a very modern affliction: the sheer inability to sit down and finish a book. We live in an era of infinite distractions, making it incredibly difficult to anchor reading into a fixed daily habit. Our attention spans are fractured, and we’ve become wired to crave the comfort of familiar franchises and characters. Breaking the ice on a text feels like a monumental task, even when we already know the plot beats through pop culture osmosis. Despite that mental friction, I couldn't shake a nagging voice in the back of my mind: I want to experience the original source material for myself. That’s exactly why I built Horror Reads. I gathered those iconic, public-domain horror masterworks and ruthlessly sliced them down into highly digestible, 10-minute segments. The goal was to remove the intimidation factor. Now, whenever I have a brief pocket of downtime, I can just open the project and consume a single "bite." Day by day, without the pressure of a massive page count, those legendary reading lists are finally being conquered.
