I open dozens of new tabs a day, and every one of them was either an empty page or a wall of ads and news. I wanted that moment to feel calm, like glancing out a window, and also to be actually useful.
So Horizon draws a sky that follows the real sun and weather where you are: sunrise, golden hour, starry nights with shooting stars, rain, snow and thunderstorms over layered mountains. There are no images or videos. The whole scene is drawn in code, so it stays light.
On top of the sky there's a toolkit for getting things done:
⌘ Ctrl+K command palette: jump to any open tab, bookmark or history page, reopen closed tabs, close duplicates. It also does math (2400*15%), units and currencies (100 usd to eur), and adds tasks with "+ buy milk"
