Hey Product Hunt. I am Deep, and I built holdit.life because I was embarrassingly bad at the very problem it solves.
I was building this app while constantly getting distracted by Instagram mid-session. Every blocker I tried had one flaw: I could turn it off the moment I really wanted to. And I always really wanted to. So I built Strict Mode a feature that prevents you from deleting the app while a focus session is running. Three emergency unlocks per month if you genuinely need out. That is it. No other escape route.
The rest of holdit.life came from the same place: what actually changes behavior versus what just feels productive? Streaks work because losing a 14-day streak genuinely hurts in a way a screen time notification never does. Custom focus modes (Deep Work, Meditation, Sleep, Family Time) work because different contexts need different blocking lists. The one-tap lock mechanic works because the decision to focus has to be made before the temptation arrives, not during it.
