Himmel

Help someone just by shopping, at no extra cost.

Himmel lets you support someone while you shop. People share their story and add a link to a store or product. When you buy through their link, the store pays them a small commission, and you pay nothing extra. Some links also give you a discount. The Himmel browser extension can show their link while you shop, if you choose. Himmel doesn’t handle any money.

Hi, I'm Quency, the founder of Himmel. So why build Himmel? Simple: I just wanted to be a Hero. I've wanted to be a hero my whole life. I just never had the right powers. When I was a kid, I used to build Power Ranger suits out of cardboard boxes and paper. I was never the artsy type, terrible at it, actually- but I did it anyway because the idea of being a hero was worth the embarrassment of a lopsided helmet. I never stopped chasing that idea. The definition just kept changing. As a kid, heroes wore capes. Then I got older, and heroes were the people with money, the ones who could actually do something when something needed doing. Then heroes were the ones who showed up for people. Then leaders. At one point I genuinely wanted to be President. I think most people know this feeling even if they've never said it out loud. Superhero movies wouldn't be the highest-grossing films in history if people didn't want to see themselves in the person saving the day. We grow up, the costume changes, but the want stays. The problem is real life doesn't give most of us powers. And it definitely doesn't give most of us money. So what do you do when you want to help but you genuinely don't have anything to give? That question is why I built Himmel.

Who hunted Himmel?

Himmel was hunted by Quency Mavuso. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
