Who hunted Hibiscus?
Hibiscus was hunted by Tony Hu. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Hi Product Hunt! 👋
Hibiscus has been available on the App Store for over a week now. I originally planned to launch here alongside the App Store release, but things got quite busy during launch, so I'm a little late to Product Hunt!
Hibiscus started with an idea: to build a different kind of color-grading experience. I wanted something that felt intuitive and simple, without endless sliders or complicated editing panels.
When the public beta started, the response was much bigger than I expected. Within just five days, more than 800 testers had joined. By the time Hibiscus officially launched on the App Store, over 1,400 people had participated in the beta. Their feedback helped me discover issues across different use cases, refine the camera experience, and improve the grading workflow.
Hibiscus on iOS is free and open source under MPL-2.0. It processes photos locally and doesn't require an account or subscription.
I'm still actively improving it, and I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and ideas.
Thanks for checking out Hibiscus!
