This started from a simple, uncomfortable observation: there's a whole category of AI "interview copilots" whose entire pitch is "undetectable on Zoom." I think that's both ethically off and a bad bet for the user — in 2026 ~35% of candidates show AI-assistance signals and recruiters have responded by bringing back in-person rounds. Betting your career on hiding from a system built to catch you is the worst trade in the room.
So HearQA is the opposite stance. It's an AI copilot for high-stakes moments — interviews, sales calls, exams, certification study — but it ships a public matrix that tells you exactly where it does NOT fit (proctored exams, AI-screened video, managed coding interviews) and routes you to a Practice/rehearsal mode instead. The honest answer is usually "prepare better," not "hide better."
The biggest evolution while building: we stopped chasing the interview-cheating crowd and leaned into the use cases where AI help is genuinely uncontroversial — live sales/discovery calls (your own call, camera on, nothing to detect) and rehearsal. Counter-intuitive for growth; it's the only positioning search engines and AI answer engines will actually recommend long-term.
