Health Mirror
What might your tongue reveal about your well-being?
What if a tongue photo could become a moment of reflection? With Health Mirror, take a picture of your tongue and get a glimpse of your body's current state. Pause the endless stream of thoughts and reconnect with your body. Inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, without the jargon. Explore your reflection through nature metaphors like Clear Morning Sky and Sun-Baked Earth. Revisit past reflections to discover your own baseline. Privacy-first: photos and history stay on your device.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm the solo founder behind Health Mirror, and I'm excited to introduce it here. :D
**Why I built Health Mirror**
I've long been fascinated by how traditional Chinese medicine draws on simple observations of the body, such as looking at the tongue.
But I didn't intend to build a TCM diagnosis app.
What interested me more was a simple idea: in a world where our minds are constantly occupied, I wanted a little reminder, a nudge to step away from my thoughts for a moment and notice how my body feels.
That experiment became Health Mirror.
**What it does**
Take a photo of your tongue, and Health Mirror offers a personal wellness reflection.
Instead of complicated TCM terminology, it uses metaphors drawn from nature, such as Clear Morning Sky and Sun-Baked Earth.
You can revisit past reflections and gradually discover your own baseline, rather than comparing yourself with an abstract ideal.
It's not a medical diagnostic tool. It's a little mirror for personal awareness.
Privacy was a design priority from the beginning. Your photos and reflection history stay on your device. The cloud service processes image-derived data for inference without retaining it.
**An unlikely building journey**
Here's another part of the story that might resonate with this community.
My background is in product management, not software engineering. I built Health Mirror with AI partners, working through everything from model development and mobile engineering to cloud infrastructure, privacy, and App Store reviews.
It has been quite a journey. :D
If you're curious about how this unlikely project came together, I wrote about it here: https://tcmhealthmirror.com/note...
**I'd love your perspective**
Health Mirror is now available on iOS and Android, with a free experience.
I'm especially curious about one thing:
Does the idea of a small, recurring moment of body awareness resonate with you, even if you've never been interested in TCM?
Thanks for taking a look, and for any thoughts you're willing to share!
