I'm David, the solo maker behind HawkView.
I built it because every image viewer I tried was either bloated, slow on big photos, or hid the details I actually wanted - resolution, EXIF, GPS, real colors. I wanted something instant, clean, and genuinely useful.
HawkView is a single ~60 MB app (no installers full of DLLs, no background services) that:
- ⚡ Opens even huge images instantly (GPU tiling for very large files)
- 🖼️ Handles modern + classic formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, animated GIF/APNG/WebP, TIFF, BMP, ICO, and more
- ✂️ Edits in place: crop + straighten, rotate (lossless for JPEG), save-as with quality control
- 🎞️ Slideshows with GPU transitions + Ken Burns + audio, and one-click export to MP4
- 🗺️ Reads & edits metadata (EXIF/IPTC) and shows photo locations on a map
- 🌗 Dark/light themes, a clean frameless UI, customizable toolbar, drag & drop, "set as wallpaper"
