hagane.works
Describe a HOI4 mod in plain English, get playable files
hagane.works lets you make Hearts of Iron IV mods by describing what you want in plain English — new countries, focus trees, events — instead of hand-editing text files. It writes real, editable mod files you export and play. Free to try in your browser.
I've played Hearts of Iron IV for years and always wanted to make my own mod for it. Every time I tried, I quit within an hour — it's all hand-editing hundreds of text files, and one wrong comma silently breaks the whole thing. You basically have to be a programmer to make anything.
So I built hagane.works to get rid of that part. You describe what you want in plain language — a new country, a focus tree, a chain of events — and it writes the actual mod files. You export a zip, load it in the game, done.
It's not a demo that only works on stage: a friend used it to build a full Three Kingdoms total-conversion mod, and it's sitting at around 6,500 subscribers on the Steam Workshop right now. Everything it makes is normal, editable files, so you're never stuck inside our tool.
It's free to use in the browser, and still in beta, so you'll hit rough edges — tell me about them. And if you've ever bounced off game modding because it felt like a coding job, I really want to know which game you'd want this for next.
