Guilty

See where your browser time really goes

Guilty is a privacy-first Chrome extension that shows where your browser time actually goes. It measures active browsing time—not just how long tabs stay open—and organizes it into categories like AI, Social Media, Work and Shopping. Create custom categories with wildcard domain rules and compare usage over time. Everything stays local in Chrome: no account, cloud service or tracking server. Free and open source. Where did your time actually go?

👋 Hey Product Hunt! I built **Guilty** because I wanted to know where my time on the web was *actually* going. Most browser-time tools count how long a site or tab is open. That wasn't very useful to me. I wanted to measure **active time** — when I'm actually engaged with a website — and see that time grouped into categories like AI, social media, work, shopping, etc. So I built Guilty. It's intentionally local-first: your browsing data stays in Chrome. There's no account to create, no cloud database, and no browsing data sent to a server. You can also create your own categories and wildcard rules, which was important to me because everyone's definition of “work” or “productive” is different. And yes, it's free and open source. I'd love to hear what categories, reports, or features you'd like to see next. And perhaps more importantly: **what website would make you feel the most Guilty? 😄**

Who hunted Guilty?

Guilty was hunted by Kabir. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
