Hello & Namaste Friends! 👋 I am Raghavendra Bhagavan. I am an Electronics Engineer by profession, a Software Engineer by hobby. Today, a very proud first-time poster after being more than a decade long lurker on Product Hunt! It is an absolutely great feeling to finally post here. I am thrilled to introduce you to GoodMyFood. ❤️ A Deeply Personal Mission: Researching food and nutrition has become incredibly close to my heart. After watching my mother struggle with ulcerative colitis for the past 25 years, and seeing myself, my friends, my family, and.. my entire country have a "hard time" incorporating "truly nutritious meals" into everyday life.... especially given various socio-economic factors. Last year, my Brother-in-Law (Mr. Pankaj Khadke) and I, set out to ask: “What can we do about this?” We spent the first 3-4 months talking to clinical nutritionists, health coaches, and actual food scientists to understand what "nutrition" genuinely means at a biological level. We learnt a lot of great deal of things through this exercise. 🧬 Our Core Philosophy: Nutrition > Calories Most apps focus on calorie counting, but we focus on Nutrition as the main goal. -- Calories provide the raw energy for our cells. -- Nutrition provides the organic chemistry for our cells to perform beautifully, enabling a truly healthy life. 🛡️ Deep Engineering Meets Absolute Privacy: I have worked on a LOT of B2B hobby projects before, but this is my very first B2C app. I did vibe-code a lot of things to help us move faster, but we were highly mindful of not creating just another random "A.I. slop". I wanted to build something genuinely valuable for ourselves & for you. The app looks simple on the surface, but it packs an incredible amount of deep engineering and a crazy amount of passion from the best part of our last year (2025). Here is how we’ve built it differently: -- 100% Privacy-Focused: Your health data is sacred, and you should have 100% control over who accesses it. We never track, save, or upload any of your health data, profile data, or food logs. Our only analytics is a basic counter to see how many people open the app daily. That’s it. -- Custom On-Device A.I.: I spent 4-5 months training a local on-device (edge) A.I, from scratch. It lives on YOUR phone and keeps your data on YOUR device. It natively understands YOUR body, health ailments, life stage, allergies, likes, dislikes, and cuisine preferences and provides personalised food suggestions for you. The more you use the app, the more personalised the suggestions will be. -- No "Hallucinated" Numbers: The local A.I. is solely used for inferencing "food suggestions", NOT for guessing nutrition or calorie numbers. -- More than 95% Data Accuracy: Because we had no money for external testing, we relied on tedious, rigorous internal testing. Our nutrition numbers are sourced from multiple places: manually from various National Institutes of Health & Nutrition (India, Japan, US, Europe), and manually & meticulously verified by our small team of assistants who worked closely with our mentors & food specialists from these organisations. 📱 Features & Pricing (Forever Free Core) We want the app to be accessible to everyone, across the planet. -- 100% Free Forever: The core app, food logging, food diary, summaries, insights and all the things that matter for most people, will always be free. Including the on-device A.I, food suggestions etc., -- Optional Premium for Smart Convenience: The app does offer convenience with photo-based food logging and voice-description-based food logging. Because these require some heavy lifting to identify the foods, they use an enterprise Cloud A.I., These are optional items for which you need to purchase a plan in the app, to use. -- Zero Cloud Retention: Even when using these optional Cloud A.I. features, it acts as a live service just for food identification. We never track or save any of the foods you log there. (Note: These paid cloud features are completely optional; the app functions perfectly without them). ✨ Salient Features 🔒 Absolute Privacy >> 100% Offline Core: True privacy by default.
